Awards

Gary Hammond, whose coaching career included stints in Genesee, Idaho, and Pullman in the 1950s, received distinguished service awards from the National Federation of Interscholastic Officials and Coaches associations. Hammond has lived in Baker, Ore., the last 38 years.

Football

Registration for Coeur d’Alene Junior Tackle Football will be held Aug. 28, at 5 p.m. at Persons Field for eighth-graders, and Aug. 29, at the same time and site for seventh graders. Equipment will be issued.

A skills clinic for seventh-graders will be held Aug. 30 at 5 p.m. at Persons Field. Seventh-graders will need a physical and parent signatures are required at registration. Fee: $50.
