Gambill Wins Again, Makes Usta Finals

Mead High School graduate Jan-Michael Gambill beat third-seeded Ryan Wolters of San Jose, Calif., 6-2, 6-4 to earn a second straight finals appearance at the USTA Junior Boys Tennis Tournament.

Gambill, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, will face No. 1 seed Justin Gimelstob of Whippany, N.J. Gimelstrob was a 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) victor over fourth-seeded Michael Russell of Bloomfield Hills, N.J.

Gambill had defeated Huntley Austin, 6-4, 6-4, in the quarterfinals Friday.

Gambill, who will play for the University of Washington in the spring, and his teammate, Eric Drew, lost in the semifinals of the doubles competition on Friday.
