Compiled From Wire Services

Andre Agassi handled wilting heat and two-time champion Michael Chang to win the ATP Championship in Mason, Ohio, matching a career high with his sixth tournament title of the year.

Agassi, trading his trademark black shoes and socks for something more weather-appropriate, had no letdowns on a 96-degree afternoon as he outplayed Chang 7-5, 6-2 for the $254,000 first prize.

Temperatures on court again topped 120 degrees, ending a week of brutal heat and humidity that took its toll on several high seeds.

Conchita Martinez overcame hard-hitting Chanda Rubin to win the Acura Classic in Manhattan Beach, Calif., 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 for her sixth title of the year.

Martinez earned $79,500 for the victory.

Austria’s Thomas Muster breezed by Andrea Gaudenzi of Italy to win the $300,000 San Marino-Muratti Time Open tennis tournament in San Marino.

Muster took the top prize of $39,000 by beating Gaudenzi 6-2, 6-0.

Justin Gimelstob defeated Jan-Michael Gambill of Colbert, Wash., 4-6, 7-5, 6-2, 5-4 in the finals of the USTA Junior Boys Singles Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich.
