Convenience Stores Hit By 6 Robberies

From Staff And Wire Reports

Six convenience stores were robbed in Spokane County in a little more than 24 hours, but police say it’s too early to tell if the crimes are related.

A handgun was displayed in five of the six robberies, and in three of the crimes the man wore a nylon stocking over his head.

In each incident, the robber was described as a white man. A small amount of money was taken in each robbery.

The PDQ Food and Fuel at 14710 N. Newport Highway was robbed just after 5 p.m. Saturday. The man fled on foot. He was described as wearing a navy blue sweatsuit.

The Jackpot, 7018 E. Sprague, was robbed at 11:40 p.m. Saturday. The man was described as between 25 and 30 years old and up to 5-foot-10. He was supposedly wearing a two-piece maroon sweatsuit, a black baseball hat and a nylon over his face.

He took less than $100, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Department.

The Qwik-Stop at 2202 N. Monroe was robbed at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, police said. The Zip-Trip at 8215 E. Trent was robbed at 7:54 a.m. Sunday. The Jackpot at 1918 N. Hamilton was robbed at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The 7-Eleven at 1425 N. Maple was robbed at 5:35 p.m. Sunday.

Six armed robberies in such a short time period is unusual, police Sgt. Gene Ziegler said.
