Boutros-Ghali Nephew Arrested

Compiled From Wire Services

Police have arrested a nephew of U.N. Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali on suspicion of selling LSD, a crime punishable by death under Egyptian law.

Karim Raouf Boutros-Ghali, 17, was picked up in May in his family villa near the Mediterranean city of Alexandria after two students told police they bought 106 tabs of LSD from him.

Police disclosed the arrest Tuesday after an opposition newspaper reported the teenager was in detention. He has not been formally charged, and police said their investigation was still under way.
