Treasurer’s Office Policy Honored

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Spokane County treasurer’s office will be honored today for developing an outstanding financial investment policy.

The Municipal Treasurers’ Association of the United States and Canada recently awarded the county a score of 96, the second highest in their five years of judging municipal treasuries.

Association officials will present county officials with a certificate at 9 a.m. today during a conference at Cavanaugh’s Inn at the Park in Spokane.

Finance deputy Linda Bruce also will be designated a certified municipal finance administrator. The honor is afforded only to those who display a strong knowledge of public finance and exemplary performance.

“We’re just real excited about being recognized nationally,” Treasurer Linda Wolverton said. “It’s a real show of confidence in our own policies.”
