Doctor Makes A Playhouse Call
Kevin Hagen, known as Doc Baker on the TV show “Little House on the Prairie,” will present a one-man show Aug. 24-27 at the Lake City Playhouse, 14th and Garden, in Coeur d’Alene.
Hagen will reprise his role as Doc Baker as he offers stories and observations about life as a prairie doctor in the 1870s.
Here’s an example of his comments: “Folks expected miracles from us prairie doctors. The kind they didn’t feel entitled to from God.”
The show concludes with Doc’s challenge to his modern-day audience: To embrace the simple values that sustained the prairie settlers.
The show runs at 7 each night, except the Aug. 27 show which will be at 2 p.m.

“The Stories of Q’Emiln”
An original musical, “The Stories of Q’Emiln,” will be presented tonight and Saturday at 7 p.m. at an outdoor theater at Falls Park in Post Falls.
This musical was specially commissioned for the Festival of the Falls. It was written by local playwright Tim Rarick. Music is by local composer Tom Cooper. The show is about the history and mythology of the place called Q’Emiln, which is the Indian name for the falls.
It will feature vignettes about Indian mythology, Frederick Post and Jesuit priests.
Tickets are $10, $8 for seniors and children under 12 and are available at Post Falls City Hall, Post Falls Tourism and Visitors Bureau, Gallery by the Lake in Coeur d’Alene and at all G&B Select-a-Seat outlets.
“The Princess and The Pauper”
The Performing Arts and Humanities of Sandpoint present “The Princess and the Pauper,” a children’s musical in one act, at the Panida Theater in Sandpoint, tonight at 7:30 and Saturday at 2 and 7:30 p.m.
This show, based loosely on the classic story, has a cast of 33, age 5 to adult. The two leads, Penny the Pauper and Princess Penelope, are played by twins Katie and Laurie Shook, 11.
Tickets at the door will be $5, $3 for children 12 and under. All proceeds go to benefit the organization’s building fund.
“The Masterpiece - A Toymaker’s Dream”
A live stage production featuring music, dance and special effects comes to Christ the King Lutheran Church tonight and Saturday, and to Shadle Park High School Auditorium in Spokane on Aug. 24 and 25. All shows start at 7 p.m.
This touring show tells an allegorical story of love, hope and dreams. It has played to nearly 3 million people since 1982. The show is sponsored by People For Christ Ministry.
