Client Pleads Guilty, Defender Faints

Compiled From Wire Services

A public defender fainted in a courtroom Thursday when her client took the stand and admitted killing a prostitute because he wanted to “ruin someone else’s day.”

Superior Court Judge Michael Garrigan called a recess after Kristine Eagle collapsed Thursday. Eagle represents David Huffman, on trial for the March 1994 stabbing death of Katrina Mansera, 26.

Huffman, 20, told jurors he and a friend had sex with Mansera and then refused to pay her. He said lost control and stabbed her repeatedly. The woman’s body was found near railroad tracks the next day.
