Saturn Dealer Network To Be Set Up In Japan

General Motors Corp. will set up a separate dealership network in Japan by 1997 to market its Saturn subcompact passenger car, a company spokesman said Friday.

A GM spokesman in Singapore, who asked not to be identified by name, said the network plans to sell 30,000 cars by the year 2002.

GM will start setting up the dealerships in 1996 and hopes to have a few hundred in place by the end of 1997, he said. GM hopes to sell 5,000 Saturns here in 1997, he said.
