Ice Cream Truck Driver Arrested, Accused Of Abducting Boy

Associated Press

An ice cream truck driver accused of luring an 8-year-old boy into his truck and tying him up with a shirt has been arrested, sheriff’s officers said Tuesday.

The 29-year-old Lynnwood man was booked Monday for investigation of second-degree kidnapping, child luring and communication with minors for immoral purposes. He was not identified.

The man’s bail was set at $25,000 during a court hearing Tuesday.

The man lured the 8-year-old into his truck and tied him up with the boy’s shirt, acting as if they were playing a game, said Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen. The boy was later released unharmed and given a Popsicle, Jorgensen said.

The ice cream man had talked to other children, steering the conversation from ice cream to sex and drugs, Jorgensen said. He also reportedly invited children to his apartment.
