Actor Hagman Gets New Liver

Associated Press

Larry Hagman’s damaged, cancerous liver was replaced Wednesday with a transplant during surgery that lasted 17 hours.

Ron Wise, a spokesman for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, would not immediately disclose Hagman’s condition.

Hagman, 63, was expected to be hospitalized seven to 10 days, Wise said.

Hagman, star of the old “Dallas” TV soap series, was diagnosed three years ago with cirrhosis of the liver, which he blamed on years of heavy drinking.

He was placed on a national waiting list on July 19 after a malignant tumor was found on his liver. xxxx
