Gunman Robs Minimart In Rathdrum

Police are searching for a man who robbed a Rathdrum convenience store Thursday night.

With sunglasses on and a shirt covering his mouth, the man walked into the Dashco minimart on Highway 53 with a handgun at about 8:15 p.m.

Two clerks were working at the time and several other customers were in the store.

“He leaned over the counter, threw a bag down on the floor and told (one of the clerks) to fill it up,” said Rathdrum Police Chief Bob Moore. “Of course, she did what he told her to do.”

The armed man leaned over the counter and held the gun to the clerk’s side as she put money in the bag, Moore said.

The other clerk went into the back room and called police. The man had fled on foot by the time officers arrived, Moore said.

The man is described as about 6 feet tall, 150 to 175 pounds. He has reddish blond hair and was wearing a dark baseball cap and red shirt, Moore said.

Police ask that anyone with information about the incident call (208) 687-0711.
