Banished Teen A Victim Of Theft

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Tlingit teenager banished to an isolated Alaska island for his role in the assault and robbery of an Everett pizza deliveryman has apparently seen the other side of the coin.

Simon Roberts, 18, says that 18 of the 20 hand-carved halibut hooks he has made during his banishment have been stolen, The Seattle Times reported. He intended to sell the hooks to help pay restitution to his victim.

It isn’t known how much the hooks were worth or when they were taken, said Byron Skinna, one of the tribal judges who is supervising Roberts.

Roberts is disappointed and upset but he plans to make more hooks, Skinna said.

Roberts and Adrian Guthrie, 18, were convicted of beating and robbing Tim Whittlesey at an Everett apartment complex in 1993.
