Naked Man Breaks Into Homes

From Staff And Wire Reports

Spokane police arrested a 20-year-old Spokane man Monday after getting several calls about a naked man running through yards and trying to get inside homes.

James Swan, who gave his address as 8812 N. Colton, was booked into Spokane County Jail for first-degree burglary, assault and unlawful imprisonment.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., police went to the 500 block of East Kiernan and found Swan in the alley behind a house he had apparently entered.

Swan fought police as they tried to handcuff him, spokesman Dick Cottam said. He said Swan appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

Witnesses said the man went inside one house by ripping open a screen door.

Cottam said he grabbed a child from that home and forced her outside, releasing her only when someone said police were on the way.

Swan entered at least two other homes, including one on East Lacrosse, and was seen streaking along the 500 blocks of East Rich, Rockwell and Princeton.

No one was injured.
