Police Charge Man With Attempted Rape

A Kellogg man was charged Monday with attempting to rape a 19-year-old Kellogg woman.

Kellogg police arrested Christopher L. Reed, 23, shortly after midnight Friday on a battery charge.

“We responded to a domestic violence complaint at a residence. I think probably the neighbors heard screaming and reported it,” said Kellogg Police Chief John Crawford.

The charge of battery was preferred by the victim, an acquaintance of Reed’s, Crawford said. However, when officers investigated further, the charge was amended to attempted forcible rape.

Reed is being held on $20,000 bond.
