Alternate Bull Rider Makes Good

Compiled From Wire Services

Adam Carrillo of Stephenville, Texas, qualified for the $3 million National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas only because Montana bull rider Clint Branger was knocked out of the Finals due to injury two months ago.

But Carrillo, 16th in the Crown Royal world bull riding standings just three days ago, moved up to No. 2 thanks to an 83-point ride aboard Burns Rodeo Co.’s bull Sports Machine.

Carrillo won the third round of bull riding, topping Scott Breding of Edgar, Mont., by one point.

In other events, bareback rider Clint Corey scored 83 points to win the third round and steer wrestler Mike Smith of Jerome, Idaho, downed his steer in 4.1 seconds to take the third round.
