UI Alumni Association Gives Excellence Awards

The University of Idaho Alumni Association recently gave local resident graduating seniors the Alumni Association Award for Excellence. Students and their hometowns are as follows:

Bonners Ferry

Travis Coffey, a history major and son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted L.

Coffey of Bonners Ferry;

Erin Payton, a plant science major and daughter of Betty

McCoy, of Bonners Ferry.

Hayden Lake

Michael Andrea, an economics major and son of Dawna Andrea, Hayden Lake.

Kendrick

Ellen Magnuson, an elementary education major.

Moscow

Boon-Aik Ang, , an electrical engineering major;

Karen Byers,;

John Harrington, a mathematics and chemistry major and son of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin J. Harrington of Moscow;

Deborah Mikesel, a food science major and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Quentin Mikesell of Moscow;

Kris Willoughby, an electrical engineering major, whose parents are Mr. and Mrs. William Willoughby.

Post Falls

Russ Wright, an English major and son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wright, of Post Falls.

The students, nominated by UI departments and colleges, were reviewed by a committee of faculty and alumni which made the selections based on academic achievement and citizenship. This is the 16th year of the awards.

Ryan T. Crabb, of Sandpoint,

recently enlisted in the in the Army as a UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter Repairman. Crabb, the son of Bruce and Marcia Crabb of Sagle, Idaho, is attending basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.

Mike Icardo, of Coeur d’Alene, has become an associate broker with North Idaho Realty Inc., of Hayden. Icardo successfully passed the state exam and will receive his real estate brokers license. He also holds a graduate of the Real Estate Institute designation and has been active in all areas of real estate sales for six years. He was formerly in the mortgage banking business.

Bonner County High School Juniors Danielle Kins, Sandpoint, and Mauri Brooks, Priest River, were recently awarded the National I Dare You Leadership Award in recognition of personal integrity, balanced living, and potential for leadership. The awards are presented each year by the American Youth Foundation in cooperation with principals, headmasters and 4-H Extension Educators nationwide. The youths will also receive a scholarship opportunity to attend the AYF’s International Leadership Conference in Michigan. Over 7,000 high schools and 4-H programs participate in the program each year.
