Major League Soccer will release the schedule for its inaugural season today, which will include 16 home and 16 road games for each of the 10 teams and at least two international games for each club.

The league’s opening game will be played April 6 at Spartan Stadium in San Jose, Calif., featuring the San Jose Clash against Washington D.C. United.

An arrest warrant has been issued for former Ohio State track star Chris Nelloms on a charge of passing a bad check in Dayton, Ohio.

Nelloms has qualified to compete in the U.S. Olympic track and field trials next June in Atlanta.

Olympic medals will be awarded for the first time in snowboarding, curling and women’s hockey at the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano, Japan.

In Ypsilanti, Mich., the start of the second half of the San Francisco State-Eastern Michigan basketball game was held up for 30 minutes after dozens of protestors took over the court.

The protest apparently stemmed from the Nov. 7 arrest at a residence hall of a black student following a scuffle between him and a white university police officer.
