Roy Dealt To Colorado In Trade Involving Five

Patrick Roy, suspended by the Montreal Canadiens after a blowup with the team’s coach and president, was traded Wednesday to the Colorado Avalanche in a five-player deal.

Roy, 30, a three-time Vezina Trophy winner as the NHL’s top goalie, was sent to Colorado along with right wing Mike Keane for goalie Jocelyn Thibault, left wing Martin Rucinsky and right wing Andrei Kovalenko.

Lindros’ cousin dies

Randy Lindros, a promising 15-year-old player with Kelowna of the Western Hockey League and cousin of NHL star Eric Lindros, died at his school Tuesday of an aortic aneurysm in Kamloops, British Columbia.

Lindros, a defenseman, was selected in the first round of the major junior WHL draft by Kelowna.
