Pete Sampras beat Patrick McEnroe 6-1, 7-6 (7-1), while Todd Martin ousted Sergi Bruguera of Spain 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 and moved into the quarterfinals of the Grand Slam Cup in Munich, Germany.

Monica Seles will play in the Lipton Championships in March following a three-year absence from the tournament.
