Old Beatles Music Beats New Brooks

The Hollywood Reporter

We read the news today, oh boy, and the Beatles were still No. 1 at the nation’s retail stores with sales of 453,000 copies of their “Beatles Anthology Vol. 1” double album.

Given the $30 retail price, the Beatles have sold more than $40 million worth of music in 14 days.

Though off from last week’s debut of 855,000, the Fab Four’s decades-old outtakes (plus one new song) outsold even country phenom Garth Brooks, who nonetheless roped in sales of 366,000 for his “Fresh Horses,” which was down from last week’s bow of 480,000. Also, his “Hits” album will re-enter next week’s Billboard chart at No. 41.
