Alpine skiing

Silver Mountain is running two lifts daily and reports a 29-inch base. Info: (800) 204-6428.

Schweitzer will open one lift Saturday with reduced-price lift tickets. Info: (800) 831-8810.

Lookout Pass has both lifts going with a 22-inch base and 6 inches of new snow. Info: (208) 744-1301.

Mount Spokane and Bluewood are still trying to scrape a base together and will not be open this weekend.

49 Degrees North reports a 30-inch base on the top but only 6 at the bottom. If there is more snow, they will open Saturday. Updates: 458-9208.

Whitewater was dumped with 70 inches of snow this week and will open all lifts Saturday with an 87-inch base.

Red Mountain will open two lifts and limited terrain Saturday with a 40-inch base.

Big Mountain reports region’s best conditions with 70-inch base; all lifts running.

Nordic skiing

The Pend Orielle Nordic Club will be host its fourth annual Nordic Ski Day at

Geophysical Nordic Trail on January 7. Info: 447-7300.

The Methow Valley offers the best skiing. Sun Mountain, Chickadee, Mazama and Rendevous trails are groomed and reportedly in top condition. Info: (800) 682-5787.

Snowmobiling

The Methow Valley reports lots of snow but the only groomed trails will be the

8-mile snowpark north of Winthrop and Kerr Camp to 30-Mile Meadows.
