Pullman Man Hurt After Thrown From Car

From Staff Reports

A Pullman man was in critical condition late Friday after he lost control on an icy highway and was thrown from his vehicle, authorities said.

William M. Chipman, 50, was taken by medical helicopter to Sacred Heart Medical Center.

Chipman was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Suburban north on U.S. Highway 195 south of Spangle at 8:45 a.m. when he tried to pass a slower car, the Washington State Patrol said.

His Suburban skidded off the highway into the east ditch, rolled three times and Chipman was thrown from the vehicle, according to the state patrol.

Chipman was not wearing a seat belt, the state patrol said.
