Not Many Washington Fans Are Planning To Head For Sun

Compiled From Wire Services

Costly air fare is one reason why the University of Washington has sold less than half of its allotted number of tickets for the Dec. 29 Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas, organizers say.

Washington boasts one of the largest traveling contingents of fans in the Pacific-10, but school officials say only about 3,000 of their 8,000 allotted tickets have been sold.

“I’m sure we’ll have 40,000-plus, and since we seat only 50,000, it will look pretty full,” executive director Tom Starr said.
