Disappointed Viets Riot Over Soccer Game

Compiled From Wire Services

Thousands of soccer fans, disappointed at their team’s loss in the Southeast Asia Games, threw gasoline bombs and stones at police in Ho Chi Minh City in a rare incident of civil unrest in this Communist country.

Twenty-nine police were injured, six seriously, and 78 rioters were arrested during more than two hours of clashes Saturday night and Sunday morning, city police officials said.

Earlier Thailand defeated Vietnam in a Southeast Asia Games soccer match in Thailand.
