Obituaries

Ernest Banderob St. Maries

Service for Ernest Banderob, 86, will be today at 2 p.m. at Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Banderob, who was born in Montana, died Friday.

He farmed and ranched in Montana. During World War II, he managed a farmers’ union co-op.

Mr. Banderob moved near St. Maries in 1947. He continued ranching and farming and helped organize and manage the St. Maries co-op store.

He retired in 1964 and operated a bicycle repair shop until 1993. He was a member of the Farmers Union in Montana.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Edith; two sons, Lawrence and Ralph Banderob, both of St. Maries; one daughter, Ann Sturgeon of Arkansas; one brother, Charlie of Montana; two sisters, Margaret Schultze of Tucson, Ariz., and Marion Jones of Montana; 11 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Sherril Wall Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Sherril L. Wall, 80, will be today at 11 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wall, who was born in Missouri, died Sunday.

He moved to Hamilton, Mont., in 1982 and to Coeur d’Alene in 1994.

He worked as a salesman with New Construction Co.

Mr. Wall was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Kansas.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry of Hayden Lake, Idaho, Chuck of Coeur d’Alene and Kim of Oregon; two brothers, Lilburn Wall of Missouri and Henry Wall of Kansas; a sister, Mary Harris of Missouri; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Elvin Primmer Tekoa

Service for Elvin M. Primmer, 67, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the United Church of Tekoa. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. Kramer Funeral Home of Tekoa is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Primmer died Saturday.

Born in Spangle, he attended school in Rockford. He served in the Navy from 1945-47.

He farmed in Lovell Valley, Idaho, before moving in 1957 to Tekoa, where he worked for Palouse Pea Processors. He also worked on several road and building construction jobs and on a hay farm in the Columbia Basin.

In 1974 he moved to St. Maries, where he grew grass seed and oats. He returned to Tekoa in 1990.

Mr. Primmer was a member of the United Church of Tekoa and was a former member of the Elks Lodge in St. Maries and the Plummer (Idaho) American Legion.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Patricia; a son, Mike Primmer of Coeur d’Alene; two daughters, Pegi Freeman of Kingston, Idaho, and Valerie Day of Nine Mile Falls; his mother, Margaret Primmer of Rockford; three brothers, Stanley Primmer of Rockford, Jack Primmer of Spokane and Del Primmer of Hayden Lake, Idaho; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial gifts may be given to the Tekoa Ambulance Fund or the United Church of Tekoa.

Berl Dougall Post Falls

Service for Berl E. Dougall, 75, will be today at 11 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dougall, who was born in Isabel, S.D., died Friday.

He grew up and attended school in Isabel before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1934.

He served with the Army during World War II. After military service, he returned to Coeur d’Alene and became a heavy-equipment mechanic.

He married Betty Breshears in 1969 and moved to Post Falls in 1977. He retired in 1982 after working for Moen Hardware for 25 years and Coeur d’Alene Tractor for eight years.

Mr. Dougall was past president of the Friendly Sams, assistant director of the Idaho Good Sams, and a lifetime member of National Good Sams.

In 1994 he received the Mayor’s Public Service Award for his volunteer work with the Post Falls Senior Citizens Center. He also had served as a senior center trustee for 11 years.

He was a longtime member of the Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Harvey, Berl Jr. and Gene, all of Post Falls, Darrell of Pennsylvania and Tracy of Coeur d’Alene; five daughters, Judy Pixler of Lewiston, Debbie Gunschel of Maryland, Kristy Logsdon of Hayden Lake, Idaho, Laura Dougall of Post Falls and Lani of Mountain Home, Idaho; a stepson, Ralph Breshears of Oregon; a stepdaughter, Louren Browne of Rathdrum, Idaho; a brother, Wayne Dougall of Reno, Nev.; two sisters, Jean Zinkgraf and Joan Hodley, both of Spokane; 24 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Post Falls Senior Center.

Peter Graf Spokane

Funeral Mass for Peter Graf, 84, was celebrated Monday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Graf, who died Thursday, was born in Cologne, Germany. He came to the United States in 1929 and moved to Spokane.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Mr. Graf was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the American Legion.

He married Katherine Graf in 1933. She died earlier this year.

Survivors include one niece, Mary Cahill of New Jersey; one nephew, Jerry Cahill; and other nieces and nephews in the United States and Germany.

Carl Nick Spokane

Service for Carl L. Nick, 72, will be at 2 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home followed by burial at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mr. Nick died Saturday.

Born in Roundup, Mont., he moved to Spokane 65 years ago.

He was a foreman in the paint department of School District 81. He retired in 1983.

Mr. Nick was a member of Eagles Aerie 2.

Survivors include his wife, Irma Nick, at the home; two sons, Ted Nick and Don Nick, both of Spokane; and a daughter, Wendy Gilbrich of Spokane.

Harold Black Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Harold W. Black, 83, will be today at 6 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 1470 Hanley Ave., Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel of Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Black, who was born in Columbus, Ohio, died Sunday.

He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1986 from Emmett, Idaho.

He married E. Lenore Ullom, and she died in 1987. In 1988 he married Lois Goppert.

Mr. Black was a Methodist minister and had lived in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

He loved people and reading.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Donald of Hillsboro, Ore.; two daughters, Constance Black of Chicago and Rhonnie Gee of Rathdrum, Idaho; a brother, Clarence; two sisters, Ruth and Verna; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Grace Kissinger Metaline, Wash.

Mass of Christian Burial for Grace L. Kissinger, 83, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Metaline Falls followed by a graveside service at the Metaline Cemetery. Danekas Funeral Chapel of Colville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kissinger, who died Friday, was born in Lewiston. She married James Kissinger in 1934, and they moved to Metaline in 1943.

Mrs. Kissinger worked as a cook in area restaurants. She served on the Democratic Election Committee for many years and was a member of the Metaline Birthday Club, the Royal Neighbors, and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, James Kissinger of Metaline; two daughters, Marjorie Ladwig of Moscow, Idaho, and Rosemary Kirk of Spokane; two sisters, June Machmer of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Vivian Link of Spokane; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Sarah Madson Spokane

Service for Sarah Amanda Madson was Monday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North followed by burial at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Miss Madson, 103, died Thursday.

Born in a homestead cabin at Liberty Lake, she attended the first class in the Liberty Lake Grade School in 1897.

She graduated from high school in Coeur d’Alene and graduated from Coeur d’Alene College in 1912.

Miss Madson taught at the Coeur d’Alene College and Pleasant View School in the Elk area.

She also taught at Liberty Lake, Lincoln, Garfield, Grant and Finch schools in Spokane.

She was a Sunday School teacher at the Liberty Lake Community Church, where she was an active member and held many church offices.

Miss Madson retired in 1950 and lived at the Madson family ranch, where she raised 27 head of cattle until she was 99.

Survivors include a sister, Elma C. Nashe of Spokane; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Adolph “Ken” Hansen Greenacres

Service for Adolph “Ken” Hansen, 67, will be at 2 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South.

Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mr. Hansen, who was born in Montana, died Dec. 4.

He graduated from Rathdrum (Idaho) High School and served in the Air Force for 23 years before retiring as a senior master sergeant.

Mr. Hansen worked as a miner in the Kellogg area before moving to the Spokane area 26 years ago.

His wife, Rosemary Hansen, died in 1981.

Survivors include one son, Timothy Hansen of Spokane; three sisters, Darlene Guderjohn of Phoenix, Ariz., Betty Ramsey of Spokane and Clarice Carter of Coeur d’Alene; and one brother, Ray Hansen of Hayden Lake, Idaho.
