Paccar To Lay Off 400 In Puget Sound

Paccar Inc. says it will lay off more than 400 workers next month at its Kenworth Truck Co. plants in Renton and Tukwila.

Company spokesman Stephen Buckner said Friday that about 400 people will lose their jobs Jan. 19 at the plants. Bellevue-based Paccar also will close those plants, which employ about 1,920, during New Year’s week, Buckner said.

The layoffs do not affect Kenworth plants outside the United States or in Paccar’s other truck-manufacturing divisions.
