Quake Quietly Rattles Chelan County Area
An earthquake centered about 4-1/2 miles south of this Chelan County town got little notice from area residents.
“We did?” was deputy town clerk Shanon Peterson’s response to word that the area had been rattled by a magnitude 3.1 temblor about 7 a.m. Sunday.
No injuries or serious damage had been reported to the sheriff’s office, dispatcher Monica Wilson said.
The quake was logged by the University of Washington’s Seismology Lab in Seattle.
After checking with her colleagues, Peterson said the city clerk’s sister and brother-in-law “have cracks in their roof” as a result of the quake.
