Russians Find Missing Jetliner

Compiled From Wire Services

The wreckage of a Russian jetliner that vanished Dec. 7 was discovered Monday by a helicopter pilot in the remote Bo-Jaus mountains near the Pacific coast. Russian officials said there were no signs of survivors.

Dozens of aircraft and ships had been scouring the Russian Far East for the Tu-154 plane, which was carrying 97 people when it disappeared during an early morning flight in a snowstorm.

The rescuers said small fragments of the plane’s fuselage and landing gear were around a large crater, indicating the plane hit the ground nearly vertically.
