A Jumbo Jet Bound For Florida

Compiled From Wire Services

A jumbo jet bound for Florida with 467 people aboard skidded off a runway at Kennedy Airport and smashed into a concrete tower when the pilot aborted takeoff during a snowstorm Wednesday. Twenty-eight passengers were injured. The New York airport, bustling with holiday travelers, was closed for four hours. Tower Air said the pilot of the 747 aborted the takeoff because the runway was icy. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating. Photo by Associated Press
