Tribal Leaders Face Recall

From Staff And Wire Reports

Members of the Shoshone-Bannock Indian Tribes dissatisfied with how their leaders are handling negotiations over nuclear waste shipments across the reservation have taken out recall petitions for all seven members of the Tribal Council.

Indian leaders are negotiating with the U.S. Department of Energy and the Navy on shipments of nuclear waste to the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory. The tribes at first adopted an ordinance banning the shipments, but this month rescinded it.
