Armed Men Hold Up Man Collecting Money For Charity

Armed men robbed a man collecting money for a charity outside of a north Spokane grocery story Saturday.

The man told police that two men walked up to his table in front of the Safeway on Northwest Boulevard. One of them lifted their shirt and displayed the handle of a handgun.

Police said the man was told not to say anything or he would be shot.

The thieves grabbed a box full of money and fled south on Ash in a blue car with rust on the trunk.

The victim, who was not injured. was collecting money for the Searchlight Association, police said. The non-profit organization collects money to pay for dinners for the needy.
