Pick A Panini
Food simply sounds better in Italian. A relish tray becomes “antipasto.” Cornmeal mush becomes “polenta.” And a grilled cheese sandwich becomes a “panini.”
Romeo’s Cafe in downtown Spokane serves up panini starring such ingredients as prosciutto, coppocolla, roast beef, chicken with roasted zucchini and a veggie eggplant version. But our favorite has a spicy Caribbean bent: the Jamaica Jump (pictured here), featuring roasted pork, black beans, Anaheim chili, chipotle mayonnaise and pepper jack cheese, on fresh Fugazzi bread. Please pass the peperoncini, mon!
Price: $2.95 to $3.95 for a half sandwich, $4.95 to $5.95 for a whole.
Available: Romeo’s Cafe, 221 N. Wall (455-5594).
