Teen Flees Police, Hurt In Rollover

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 17-year-old boy chased by Spokane police survived a high-speed rollover crash Tuesday.

The teenager suffered a dislocated shoulder and facial injuries, Spokane police spokesman Dick Cottam said.

The boy was arrested on suspicion of driving with a revoked license and attempting to elude police.

A police officer saw the Ford Mustang make an illegal U-turn and began chasing the car on Rowan Avenue near Driscoll Boulevard, police said.

After two minutes, the officer gave up the chase because the other car was traveling at dangerous speeds. Instead of slowing down, the Mustang went faster and lost control on Rowan near Hawthorne. He may have been traveling as fast as 100 mph, police said.

The car crossed the center line and tore through three yards, peeling back sections of fencing as it went. The car caromed off a tree and rolled at least twice.
