Dubious Honor Bestowed

Associated Press

An Archer Daniels Midland Co. executive who was fired and accused of embezzlement after he turned FBI informant has been named the first “Disgruntled Employee of the Year” by an on-line magazine.

“DISGRUNTLED: The Business Magazine For People Who Work For A Living” selected Marc Whitacre, former president of the BioProducts Division at Decatur, Ill.-based Archer Daniels, for the honor.

In the magazine’s view, Whitacre demonstrates that high-level employees can feel the same dissatisfaction with corporate life that lower employees do, publisher Daniel Levine said Thursday.
