Meghan Tousley’s Photo Chosen In Competition

Meghan Tousley of Spokane is one of 100 winners in the “Party Time” photography contest sponsored by Parade magazine and Eastman Kodak Co. Tousley, a substitute teacher photographed Bruce Rohr, 23, and Katie Gary, 7 sharing a dance before a wedding ceremony.

All 100 winning photographs were compiled in a national exhibit for the Innoventions East Pavilion at Epcot ‘95 at the Walt Disney World Resort. Each winner received $100.

Brusan Wells has been selected as the first executive director of Spokane’s Single Parent Outreach Connection.

Hans Purkey, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Edward Purkey, Spokane, is among 27 students at Harvey Mudd College to appear in the 1996 edition of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

Students are selected based on academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.

Mae Schaffer, Spokane, has had her poem, “When I Am Old,” published in “Between the Raindrops,” compiled by the National Library of Poetry.

Keri Leyda, daughter of Tom and Julie Leyda, has been elected president of the Alpha Phi sorority at Washington State University. A 1993 graduate of Gonzaga Prep, Leyda is a junior majoring in elementary education.

Merrily Bjerkestrand has become a certified children’s etiquette consultant from the Protocol School of Washington by attending a class in McLean, Va. A consultant can present seminars focusing on an appreciation for good manners by children and teens.

David Booth, a 1970 University High School graduate, has been promoted from trooper to sergeant with the Washington State Patrol and assigned to supervise a Tacoma detachment.

A 22-year state patrol veteran, Booth has been with the executive protection unit in Olympia since 1987. He received his associate degree in law enforcement in 1972 from Spokane Community College and a bachelor’s degree in organizational management in 1992 from Evergreen State College.

Matthew Stembridge, son of George and Lynne Stembridge, Spokane, has enrolled as a member of the class of 1999 at Dartmouth University. Stembridge is a graduate of St. George’s School.
