Authorities Search For Identity Of Abandoned Newborn Girl

Associated Press

A newborn girl found abandoned at an apartment building will be placed in a foster home while authorities try to identify her.

The 2-day-old infant, nicknamed “Binta,” was found Sunday night wrapped in a white towel and thin blanket on the doorstep of a SeaTac apartment building.

Child Protective Services took custody of the child Tuesday to place her in a temporary foster home to await adoption if her parents cannot be found, said Kathy Spears, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Social and Health Services.

The baby was shown to reporters at a news conference Tuesday.
