Egghead Software Seeks Tenant For Empty Half Of Service Center

Egghead Software, an Issaquah, Wash.based reseller of computer software, wants to lease half its new Liberty Lake customer service center.

Plans to lease the empty half of Egghead’s 115,000-square-foot center seem to run counter to demands last year for financial incentives to accommodate Egghead’s growth.

But chief financial officer Carolyn Tobias said that’s not the case.

“We had planned all along to use half the building,” she said. “We had thought it would be big enough to grow into.”

The Egghead Solutions center opened Jan. 23, employing about 130 people who take calls from government, school and business software users. The center, which is composed of two adjoining buildings, is located in the MeadowWood Business Park.

Egghead officials decided to open the center after Momentum ‘95 and the Spokane Area Economic Development Council agreed to buy the company a two-acre lot adjoining the center for $225,000. Without that offer, the company said it would have opened the center in Colorado Springs.

Terms of the deal require Egghead to pay a $1,000 penalty to Momentum for every job below 400 that the company does not create in Spokane during the next four years.

Egghead earlier this week hired the Rothrock Co. in Spokane to find a tenant for the empty half of the center. The 60,000-squarefoot space formerly was used for manufacturing by Hewlett-Packard Co.
