Records Safe At Millrose

Remarkable Jackie Joyner-Kersee began her quest for a rare hurdles-long jump double by skimming to victory in the women’s 60-meter hurdles at the Millrose Games.

Meanwhile, Greg Foster failed in his bid to match pole vaulter Bob Richards for the most Millrose victories ever in a single event when he finished fourth in the men’s 60-meter hurdles in 7.68 behind winner Allen Johnson.

There were several other notable performances in the early events, including Gwen Torrence’s rally from “a horrible start” to blaze to a 3-foot victory in the women’s 60-meter dash in 7.09, the fastest in the world this year.
