Legislative action scheduled this week includes:

Monday

1:30 p.m. Senate Hearing Rm. 4, J.A. Cherberg Bldg., Senate Labor, Commerce & Trade Committee public hearing on several bills restricting gambling, including SB 5603, requiring punch board or pull tab devices to be placed out of the direct sight of children, and SB 5301, limiting gambling by Native American tribes.

Tuesday

10 a.m. House Hearing Rm. E, John L. O’Brien Bldg., public hearing on HB 1021, trying juveniles as adults if they use a firearm while committing a violent offense.

10 a.m. Senate Hearing Rm. 1, J.A. Cherberg Bldg., public hearing on SB 5440, requiring expulsion from school for at least one year for possession of a firearm on school grounds.

Wednesday

1:30 p.m. House Hearing Rm. A, John L. O’Brien Bldg., public hearing on two abortion bills: HB 1519, requiring that specific information about alternatives be provided to women seeking abortion; and HB 1523, requiring parental notice of abortion.

Thursday

8 a.m. House Hearing Rm. E, John L. O’Brien Bldg., House Children and Family Services Committee public hearing on HB 1417, the “Becca bill,” allowing detention of runaway children.

Friday

10 a.m. House Hearing Rm. A, John L. O’Brien Bldg., House Education Committee public hearing on HB 1316, prohibiting strikes by teachers.
