Lotto Winner Thought She Had $25 Ticket

Associated Press

June Craig knew she had a $25 winner in her Lotto tickets. It turned out she had a lot more than that coming.

Craig, 51, of Waterville, had a clerk at Pine Canyon Market in Orondo check her Lotto tickets Tuesday night. The computerized machine promptly spat out a slip of paper bearing the words: “Claim Jackpot.”

The next day, Craig and her husband, Bob, a retired Douglas County sheriff’s deputy, and one of their three children made the 125-mile drive to Yakima to claim the first of 20 annual installments on a $7 million jackpot from the Jan. 11 Lotto drawing.

She said she would establish college trust funds, help cover a son’s college costs and pay for their daughter and son-in-law to visit from their home in Israel.
