Snead Beats Floyd

Compiled From Wire Services

J.C. Snead tapped in a 2-foot par putt on the first hole of a playoff to defeat Ray Floyd and win the Royal Caribbean Classic, his second Senior PGA title, at Key Biscayne, Fla.

Snead, the 54-year-old nephew of golf legend Sam Snead, shot a 6-under-par 65 for a 209 total to win $127,500, the richest payday of his career. Snead, of Hot Springs, Va., won eight PGA tournaments before joining the senior circuit in 1990.

Gallery favorite Robert Landers, the struggling cattle farmer from Azel, Texas, finished his senior tour debut with a 74, giving him a three-day total of 228 or 15-over par, and a share of 62nd place.
