Waterfowl On The Rise, Idaho Says

From Staff And Wire Reports

The results of the midwinter waterfowl survey show a statewide increase, says Gary Will, Idaho Department of Fish and Game state waterfowl manager.

Ducks totaled 239,099, up 5 percent from 1994. Geese totaled 43,856, up 23 percent from 1994. Swan numbers were 1,635, up 9 percent from last year. These winter numbers reflect the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Fall flight forecast of last August which indicated a probable increase in ducks due to good water, nesting and production.

The purpose of the survey is to determine the distribution and relative numbers of waterfowl wintering on the continent.
