Noles Have New A.D.

Dave Hart, who helped turn around East Carolina’s struggling sports program, was hired as athletic director at Florida State.

“My vision for this program at Florida State is to be a program that’s looked upon as highly successful and comprehensive,” Hart said. “I met with coaches, administrators and others. There was a real sense of caring and loving for this institution.”

Florida State has been without an athletic director since October, when Bob Goin was ousted amid accusations of ethics violations over a roofing scandal.

Hart will take over March 15. Interim athletic director Wayne Hogan will serve until then.

Henry Mason was hired as wide receivers coach for the Wisconsin football team after holding the same post at Western Michigan.

Boise State and Nevada have canceled their scheduled football game at Reno next September, in part because the Broncos are moving from the Big Sky Conference to the Big West in 1996. Boise will play at Reno that season and didn’t want to travel there two years in a row.
