Torrential Rains Flood Iran
Torrential rains have flooded parts of south and central Iran, submerging farmland and cutting off dozens of villages, Tehran radio reported Monday.
The broadcast, monitored in Cyprus, said several rivers in central Fars province had overflowed, covering rural roads and nearly 1,000 acres of farmland with water.
Heavy rains had been falling in the adjoining province of Yazd, to the north, since Saturday.
