Johnson Matthey Buys Colorado Firm

From Staff And Wire Reports

Johnson Matthey Electronics has acquired Climax Performance Materials Microelectronics Group of Golden, Colo.

The acquisition expands the product capabilities of Johnson Matthey’s Alta Group, a Pittsburgh-based supplier of highpurity titanium and other metals used to make semiconductors.

Climax Performance was a subsidiary of Cyprus Amax Minerals Co., and has been a longtime supplier of tungsten materials to Johnson Matthey’s manufacturing facility in Spokane, company officials said.

The Alta Group was acquired by Johnson Matthey’s Electronics Division in 1992. Headquartered in Spokane, the Johnson Matthey Electronics Division is a leading supplier of high-purity metals to the semiconductor and microelectronics industries, generating annual sales of more than $210 million.
