Schools Win $90,000 Grant

From Staff And Wire Reports

Spokane School District 81 recently got $90,000 for improving schools from the federal Goals 2000 program.

It was the largest Goals 2000 amount awarded in Washington.

The district will use the money to review curriculum, set learning goals and develop a staff training academy at the old Libby Middle School.

District officials said their application won in the highly competitive process because of the district’s recently written strategic plan, which sets goals for the district.
