Boy, 9, Accused Of Pocketknife Threat
School officials have suspended a 9-year-old boy who allegedly threatened two other students with a pocketknife.
The Tuesday dispute apparently started when one of the children cut in a line, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Lt. Ben Wolfinger said.
Lakeside Elementary School principal Bill Pogge said none of the children was injured. The incident occurred while the students were waiting for the school bus, he said.
“The child put the knife away and got on the bus,” he said.
He said a teacher, hearing of the confrontation, went to the bus and confiscated the knife. Pogge said the blade on the knife was about two inches long.
Pogge confirmed that the student was suspended pending a disciplinary hearing Wednesday. The maximum penalty would be a one-year expulsion, he said.
