Legislative Action

Legislative action scheduled for this week includes:

MONDAY

3:15 p.m. House Hearing Rm. A, John L. O’Brien Bldg., House Appropriations Committee public hearing on HB-1027, redirecting school administrative resources to the classroom, and HB-1036, requiring a performance audit of the Superintendent of Public Instruction.

TUESDAY

1:30 p.m. House Hearing Rm. E, John L. O’Brien Bldg., House Children and Family Services Committee public hearing on HB1171, prohibiting adoption, foster care and placement care of minor children by homosexuals.

WEDNESDAY

1:30 p.m. House Hearing Rm. A, John L. O’Brien Bldg., House Law and Justice Committee public hearing on HB-1711, allowing couples to enter into a marriage contract which allows divorce only under certain circumstances, such as adultery or abuse.

THURSDAY

8 a.m. Senate Hearing Rm. 1, J.A. Cherberg Bldg., public hearing on several regulatory reform bills, restricting the ability of agencies to make rules and encouraging voluntary compliance for some rules.

1:30 p.m. Senate Hearing Rm. 1, J.A. Cherberg Bldg., public hearing on SB-5751, prohibiting the purchase or consumption of liquor at bars by persons apparently under the influence of liquor.

FRIDAY

10:30 a.m. 601 McPhee Rd. SW, Educational Service Dist. 113, Olympia, House Education Committee public hearing on HB-1169, restricting students from leaving school grounds, and HB-1244, requiring a one-year expulsion for students carrying a firearm on school grounds. The hearing will include testimony from students around the state via interactive television.
