Timberwolves Are Worth Howling About

The Lake City High girls’ basketball team, guided by coaches Dave Fealko and Dave Stockwell, has made all Coeur d’Alene proud by winning the new school’s first state championship Saturday at Caldwell.

Seven Timberwolves are former Coeur d’Alene High Viks who have played on back-to-back state championship teams, compiling an incredible 49-1 record overall.

Lake City showed why it was selected No. 1 all year by the state’s sportswriters as the T-wolves swept three games in the A-1 tournament.

Fealko, an algebra teacher in his 17th season coaching Coeur d’Alene area girls, won his 300th game late in the season and then his fifth state title.
